Introduction:
SPRINT, an initiative of iHUB-AWaDH, is a Strategic Program for Research Innovation and Next-Gen Tech-Commercialization (SPRINT). This program is dedicated to nurturing innovation and research-driven startups, with the ultimate goal of accelerating the growth of deep tech-based ideas and products, transforming them into successful ventures. SPRINT extends a warm invitation to aspiring innovators, researchers, and early-stage entrepreneurs, offering them vital support, resources, mentoring, and funding of up to 25 Lakhs.
iHUB-AWaDH envisioned the expansion of the SPRINT program to cover various regions of India. In collaboration with AIC-Nalanda organized the eastern segment of this program, known as SPRINT EAST EDITION. The event took place on the 15th of September 2023 at O-HUB, Startup Odisha.
Distinguished Dignitaries:
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries who shared their invaluable experiences and insights with the participants. Notable figures included Dr. Nivedita Jena, Chief Operating Officer of DBT-ILS Bio-incubator, Dr. Sanat Mishra, Senior Scientist at DPME, OUAT, Dr. Radhika Trikha, Chief Operating Officer of iHUB-AWaDH, Mr. Mukesh Kestwal, Chief Innovation Officer of AWaDH, and Ms. Jhansi Gorla from Startup Odisha. Also, they were the jury member for the pitch session.
Startup Selection:
Out of a pool of over 30+ applications, 10 startups were selected to advance to the final pitching round. However, one startup was unable to participate leaving a total of 9 startups to present their innovative ideas and projects.
Announcement of Results:
The final results were announced on the same day, marking the culmination of an intense and exciting pitch day. Among the 9 startups that presented, 6 were able to raise a combination of 9 lakhs of grant and 16 lakhs of debt funds from the allocated fund pool of 25 lakhs. This financial support will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in driving these startups towards their goals of innovation and growth.
Conclusion:
SPRINT East Edition proved to be a remarkable platform for fostering innovation, research-driven startups, and deep tech-based ideas in the eastern region of India. The collaborative efforts of iHUB-AWaDH, AIC-Nalanda, and other stakeholders have resulted in the successful identification and support of promising startups. We congratulate the winners and look forward to witnessing the impact of their innovative solutions on the industry and society at large. This event serves as a testament to the commitment to innovation and entrepreneurship in India.
